Code of honour of the NGTV/Netherlands Society of Interpreters and Translators
- In every assignment translators and interpreters put their entire knowledge
and ability at their customer's service, being aware of the responsibility
that the task of a translator and an interpreter involves.
- They exclusively accept assignments for which they possess the required knowledge.
- Based on their confidential position and their serving function,
they behave in a worthy manner.
- They cover the translations they deliver with their name and are
responsible for them within the boundaries of the law as well as their terms
of delivery, or the General Conditions of the NGTV, as the case may be.
- They only represent translations made by themselves as their translations.
- They observe strict secrecy with regard to what comes to their knowledge
in and by the performance of their function.
- They refrain from making use of what comes to their knowledge in and by
the performance of their function to the benefit of others or themselves.
- They keep far from any unworthy form of advertising and competition.
- As a subtranslator they refrain from making contact with the customer
without the chief translator's approval.
